We bought this derelict 17th century long house in 1966 for £1,250 (all our savings).
We have worked on it ourselves without borrowing a penny and now it is a glorious, magical, unique home
Half the cottage is a beautiful self contained holiday cottage.
Today it maybe worth up to a million but we are not selling, we love it too much.
We have safely raised our three sons here and they all delight in returning as often as possible.
Christmas 2015 there were 18 family members all staying with us for a four day Christmas celebration.
We have lots of excelent reviews from Holiday lettings and Trip Advisor
We have been featured on BBC with Carol Klein in Open Gardens, also on Gardeners World and last year were given a Life Time Achievement Award in Shed of The Year from George Clarke and Will Hardy.
These appearances all happened by chance and we loved every moment.
We have been told by our holiday guests that this is the best holiday cottage they have ever had the privilege of staying in, a dream, a magical place, quite unique.
Children delight in our three wonderful playhouses built by Alban and furnished by me.
Each playhouse is dedicated to our three grand children. Ruth's Cottage (gothic in style), Tom's Lodge ( Elizabethan) and Charlotte's Post Office (a Victorian shop).
The grandchildren have told us - You can't ever sell this house Nanny and Granddad because we have our three houses in the garden.
We have had some life threatening challenges to deal with through our married life and we have pulled through and it has made us a stronger and a much devoted family.
Our three grandchildren stayed with us in 2015 for two weeks and we have had lots of fun and laughter with them.
We baked cakes together for a Women's Institute gathering, been to Bristol Zoo, Wells Leisure Center for swimming, climbed Glastonbury Tor and visited family for picnic lunch.
We are exhausted but very happy and have waved them off for another holiday with their Mum and Dad.
We feel blessed and enjoy life to the full.
