Shepherd’s Hut | Somerset

Alban built the Shepherd’s Hut in memory of his granddad William Bunting, commonly known as 'Old Shep'. As a child Alban remembers sleeping in a shepherd’s hut at lambing time. It had a little stove - but this was mainly to keep any lambs warm - and not much else for comfort but some straw for a bed. Never the less, Alban found it very exciting.

The hut was built with local cedar and beams from the disused Binegar railway station were used to make the furniture and double bed.

The hut accommodation stands in a small green next to the main cottage. It has a little veranda with chestnut fencing and a small wild flower boarder. From the stable door there is a lovely view of our pond and well.

If you’re looking for accommodation that is just as quirky but with a little more room, the holiday cottage will be a good choice.

An amazing find. Angela and Alban have put so much love and design and detail into this magical place that it felt like a real privilege to be able to stay there.
